About Claudia
Claudia Wilson is a German-born ceramic artist based in Southern California. Her work explores the female body as a vessel, imperfect, evolving, and marked by life. Through clay, paint, and photography, she creates pieces that resist idealization, embracing vulnerability and transformation. Claudia showed artistic promise early on, but in Germany, art was not encouraged as a career. Guided toward early childhood education instead, her path shifted in 1990 when she met her future husband, an American art student. After a year-long exchange and a long-distance relationship, she moved to the U.S., where she began studying fine art at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. She later paused her education to raise four children, returning decades later to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Spring 2025. Her current series, I Don’t Like Cut Flowers, reclaims the female form from objectification, inviting reflection on body, identity, and autonomy.
